Manhattan South
Author: Thomas M. Cassidy, a former senior investigator for the New York State Attorney General’s Office, is the writer and creator of Manhattan South. Cassidy never strays far from the reality of the incredible, but never-before-told stories, whispered into his ears by investigators, detectives and FBI agents. Thomas Cassidy owes a special debt of gratitude for the expertise provided by his late father, NYPD Deputy Inspector Hugh “Joe” Cassidy, respectfully referred to by the cops of his generation as, “The Commander.”
Recognition of Tom’s 20 years of service.
Feature Film
Setting: The gritty landscape of 1980’s New York City.
Logline: New York City’s first black and female Chief of Detectives allows her most trusted detective in the department to supervise the investigation when his best friend, a Hollywood Heartthrob, is murdered in Midtown. But this assignment comes with a dire warning. If the detective commander slips-up, SHE will be fired!
The film star had an overnight visit from a beautiful blonde who was seen racing from the building an hour before GQ was found dead. This sets the tabloids into a full-blown sex obsessed frenzy which makes the detective’s blood boil. With no promising leads, or even a suspect identified after a two-day manhunt, the depressed and demoralized detective commander puts his and the Chief of Detectives careers on the line. He secretly reaches out to the “Five Families” for help.
“The Commander.”
